Story Challenge: Letter “O”
I was just thinking today when I first had an Oreo Cookie. I was at my grandmothers. She taught me that you have to drink milk and you dip the cookie long enough into the milk, to make it soft enough to eat and not fall back into your milk. I just wanted the white stuff. She said to pull the cookie apart by twisting the two cookies and then licking off the icing in the center. That is the best part when I was a child.
Today, I had a package of Oreo Cookies laying on my bed (sometimes I eat snacks there). I had little visitors from next door, (I was baby sitting) Twins, almost 4 years old; a girl and a boy. I laid the cookies on the bed to keep them out of the site of little eyes until after a nap. I took this picture with their mom’s camera phone, (I like how the picture came out), I also liked how the cookies came out of the package and how the six cookies sat on the bed next to the package. Those cookies did not stay there very long, the twins woke, they each had two cookies, their mom and I each had one cookie.
When I seen this weeks Story Challenge: Letter “O”, I knew I had to use this photo. I had questions about Oreo Cookies. When and where Oreo’s came about. It was in 1912 in NYC. by the National Biscuit Company, now known as Nabisco. Hydrox Cookies made by Sunshine Company, is the main reason the Oreo Cookie was made. Hydrox built their company in 1908. I am so glad that Oreo came along in 1912. I have had Hydrox and Oreo, both are Chocolate cookies with cream centers. Oreo is better tasting I believe it with my heart and tongue of course.
Today there are now many different colors/flavors of Oreo. Each with a specific reason, like Halloween, Valentines Day, Pride Day and etc…What color of icing or covering of the cookie (chocolate) you like…it is still OREO! Yum..Go a head…Be a kid again.

Wish I could. I really miss them. Oreo’s are not gluten-free.
True! Thank you for visiting 🙂
I like my Oreos cold from the fridge …. mmmm
Me too, Thank you for stopping by, come back anytime. 🙂
As a diabetic it would be when did I last have an Oreo cookie? If I could eat any particular snack without consequences the Oreo cookie would not be at the top of the list. That honor would go to the Hostess Twinkie. 🙂
My real favorite is the Hostess Ding Dong! Thank you for your wonderful comment. Come by anytime 🙂
Can’t remember the last time I ate an Oreo. I used to love them. I’ll have to see if they sell them in London.
If not let me know and somehow I will get them to you 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a great rest of the week!! 🙂
Love Oreo’s with a cold glass of milk.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed the post 🙂
I’m amused by your OREO cookies – we can’t buy here those sweeties – so we eat some pralines instead …
I did not know they were not offered all across the world. Pralines are great too. Thank you for letting me know. I hope you will come back for other visits 🙂
